Fans on Twitter react as Australian batter Steve Smith hints about his retirement, saying that given his age he’s likely not to play any Test cricket in India. They give mixed reactions and also said that the batter has tortured us enough over the years.
“I dare say I’m not coming back to India for any Test cricket next time given my age,” says Steve Smith
Steve Smith is arguably one of the best Test batters going around in the world cricket. The right-hander has played some spectacular knocks over the years and has many times bailed his side out of trouble.
Smith recently surpassed Don Bradman’s 29 tons in Test cricket. He also displaced Micheal Clarke as the 4th leading run-scorer for Australia in Test cricket. The batter is currently playing the Test series against India.
He did an exceptional job as a skipper in the Indore Test and captained the side staggeringly well to stage a comeback. His sensational captaincy saw the visitors beat the hosts by 9 wickets.
Smith would be hoping for the same result in the last game as well and would want to draw the series. Although he produced a staggering captaincy effort, but he failed to get going with the bat. He would be looking to contribute with the bat as well. The right-hander notably has a staggering record as a skipper as he has an average of 67 as a captain in Test cricket.
With the 4th Test being the last game of the series, Smith has made a shocking statement. Speaking to Sen cricket, he said: “I dare say I’m not coming back to India for any Test cricket next time given my age, but who knows. We’ll wait and see”.

definitely he will if he want to…. I mean they can't produce bunch of test batsman better dn Smith in span of four years but Australian players longevity short compare to Asian players and most of those guys hardly play cricket after 35-36 https://t.co/hLnz1hhIgI

He can easily do a James Anderson and play in his 40s well. For that to happen he needs to give up white ball cricket completely in the next 2 years.
