“Yeah, that’s Pant!”, Twitter awed at Rishabh Pant’s brave reverse-sweep against Anderson

We have seen Rishabh Pant pulling off the incredible before, and that too in circumstances that would otherwise sound ludicrous. However, this man has always had a knack for the extraordinary, and England simply stayed witness to another of his onslaught.

Pant walked out to bat when India was teetering at 71/4 with Kohli, Gill, and Pujara back in the dressing room. The ball was doing its fair bit that drifted left and right and it wasn’t an easy job to bat on a surface like this, doubled with the menace of inclement weather conditions.

But then it has been seen before that once Pant gets in the groove, he won’t spare an inch of room that would deviate from its line and length. In one such incident, Pant who has already brought his tenth half-century in whites against England today spanked Anderson for a reverse sweep, a very rare sight in Test cricket.

Batting under tremendous pressure, with whiskers away from the edge, Pant and Jadeja came together to hammer home an incredible stand that would witness India steadying its ship. There would be a handful of gorgeous-looking strokes backed by some fearless batting from the duo.

As Pant continued with his extraordinary dominion over the English batters, no one would have anticipated that he was going to bring out the outrageous sweep shot against one of the most menacing English bowlers in the antiquity of Test cricket, James Anderson.

As Jimmy steamed in with some serious heat, Pant would opt for the shot late and then would comfortably sweep it over the keeper’s head, leaving everyone stunned. A perfectly timed stroke was dispatched to the ropes as the world stood starstruck. Twitter was simply awestruck at the audacity of Pant to do this to one of the best in business and that too in his own turf.
