Xavier Doherty turns into a carpenter post his retirement from cricket

We have seen so many ups and downs that can come in a cricketer’s life. Being out of form is just a temporary scenario. However, the condition of a cricketer changes a lot after he stops playing the sport. The same situation has happened now also.

Australia’s Xavier Doherty has been finding himself present in this challenging scenario. After exiting from cricket, the sportsperson is now being involved in the carpenter work. It has been an unfortunate moment for a player who was once a World Cup winner for his side.

The left-arm spinner stated in a video clip, “Right now, I am three-quarters of the way through a carpentry apprenticeship. This is my day on building sites, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Just being outdoors working with my hands, learning new things. Something completely different to cricket”.

He went on to add that he was not aware of what he would do post cricket. He involved himself in everything that appeared as an opportunity for him for the next 12 months. Landscaping, office work, cricket work were some of the main things from it.

Xavier Doherty won the 2015 World Cup with Australia

Xavier Doherty had a promising cricketing career in his prime face. Playing 4 test matches and 60 ODI’s, his left-arm spin bowling had a significant impact. He bagged a total of 55 wickets in the ODI format for Australia.

The cricketer was lastly present in the Australian squad for the 2015 ICC World Cup. His cricketing career started in the year 2001-02 and lasted till 2015. His last match was played against the Sri Lankan side on 8th March 2015.

He lastly bid adieu to this sport in the year 2017. The ending of the 2016-17 Sheffield Shield season led to his exit from this sport. Currently, he involves himself in carpenter work in these challenging times.
