After claiming victory in the match, England has moved up to the number two slot on the points standings. In addition to that, New Zealand has already suffered its first defeat in the competition. After deciding to bat first, the England openers got off to an impressive start for their squad.
Both Hales and Buttler reached their respective half-centuries and laid the foundation for the rest of England’s innings. Even though the batters who came after them were unable to contribute anything substantial, England was still able to finish with a total that was fairly competitive in the 20 overs that were available to them. This was primarily due to the contributions made by the openers.
In their response, New Zealand’s openers were unable to provide their side with the required start. Williamson and Phillips did make some contributions, but England continued to take wickets at regular intervals throughout the game. Their death bowling was quite neat even though the Blackcaps were unable to gain the boundaries they so desperately needed.
The big hitters, every one of them, showed there, and then they left without doing a significant amount of damage. Clearing the large boundaries at the Gabba was never going to be an easy task, and the bowlers kept the pressure on until the very end of the game.
Overall, England should feel very good about how they performed in all aspects of the game. The clinical exhibition that England will put on will provide some challenges for Australia.
Kane Williamson again struggled to get going. He scored 40 runs in 40 balls before getting dismissed by Ben Stokes. He is struggling to get going in all the matches played so far. This will be a big case for New Zealand to worry about as he is the captain of the Black Caps.

England win and Australia hang around a close wire on the verge of getting knocked out. Only SL can save Australia. Rains not coming anywhere.

Kane Williamson should do either blind slogging from 1st ball or shouldn't even come to bat.

Williamson was terrible in the chase, he held one end without any fluency , if he has taken up 40 balls how can others will play in remaining 80 balls to reach 180

Australia will need to defeat Afghanistan by a big margin and hope England doesn't defeat Sri Lanka by a big margin.
