‘Take a Break for Three or Four Weeks and Think About What You Need to Do in the Future’- Ashish Nehra Advises Virat Kohli To Think About His Game While Taking A Break

WI vs IND 2022: Ashish Nehra voted in favor of the Indian selectors’ decision to give Virat Kohli a break in the upcoming limited-overs series against the West Indies.

On Thursday, July 14, Kohli scored only 16 runs in the second ODI against England. The former captain of India will have one last chance to make up for his mistakes in the last ODI on Sunday before he takes a break in the upcoming white-ball series against the Caribbean team.

WI vs IND 2022: What did Ashish Nehra say about Virat Kohli?

During a discussion on Sony Sports about Kohli’s dismissal in Thursday’s game, Nehra said that he thought Kohli should sit out the West Indies series.

“After this, you only have one more match. You won’t be going to West Indies, and you probably need this break, too. I’ll say, “Take a break for three or four weeks and think about what you need to do in the future. Then come back.”

The former Indian pacer said that an experienced player like Kohli doesn’t need to keep playing to keep his touch. Nehra observed:

“You’re talking about a player like Virat Kohli, but at the moment, he’s not getting any runs. When you’re scoring runs, you have to keep playing, especially if you’re a young player. This is about a player with a lot of experience.”

In the five innings Kohli has played so far on the tour of England, he has only scored 59 runs. During this time, his highest score was 20, which he got in the second innings of the Birmingham Test.

Ashish Nehra said of Virat Kohli, “If there is any chance of scoring runs, it is probably a break.”

Nehra also said he was glad to hear that Kohli would not be going to the West Indies. He thought:

“He is not the kind of player who will score runs eventually if he keeps playing. I felt very good when I heard that he wouldn’t be going on the West Indies tour. If he wants to score runs, he probably needs a break, more practice, a change in his technique, or whatever else he can do.”

The former cricket player who is now a commentator said that playing continuously can sometimes be counterproductive. Nehra said this:

“Give yourself time to think about what you have to do in the future. If you keep playing right after each other, there can be trouble.”

Cricket experts have different thoughts about Virat Kohli taking a break from the sport. Some people think it will help him a lot, while others think he can only get his mojo back by spending some time in the middle.
