For batsmen of the present times, ‘consistency’ is the building block of cementing a spot in the team. Well, it’s not that easy to secure a spot in the Indian cricket team.
The fact that even the talented cricketers are warming the bench signifies the strength and core of players in the existing Indian team. As a result, it is more important to be technically sound in terms of batting, bowling and so on.
Case in point, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who once played for India in T20Is and just once in ODI is now out of the national reckoning owing to poor consistency. However, he did pick up lessons on the go and is now making waves in domestic cricket.
Ruturaj Gaikwad scores 6 centuries from last 8 innings in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022
Currently, he is plying his trade for the Maharashtra cricket team in the ongoing edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022. Maharashtra are playing against Uttar Pradesh in the second quarter-final clash.
The right-handed batter scripted history as he became the first cricketer to hit 7 sixes in an over off Shiva Singh to complete his double century in the quarter-final against Uttar Pradesh cricket team.
Besides that, he has accomplished another record of smashing six centuries from the last eight innings in the tournament. This goes to show that Gaikwad did make giant strides in terms of his batting performance.
Talking about the quarter-final fixture, Gaikwad’s phenomenal 220 off 159 balls helped Maharashtra score 330 for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted quota of 50 overs. He constructed his innings with the help of 10 boundaries and 16 sixes to his name, at a strike-rate of 138.36.
On the other side of the coin, Kartik Tyagi took three wickets to his credit for Uttar Pradesh. Given his kind of form, it is no secret that there is a huge possibility of him donning the Indian outfit anytime soon.

🤯👏
When I see Rutu batting at international level, I feel he has butterflies, not confident. He will take some time to settle at international level, but once he gets through this, he will be an asset for sure. https://t.co/w0U3ooUh5x— David (@CricketFreakD1) November 28, 2022
