“Virat Kohli and test cricket, tell me a better love story than this”, Fans react as Virat Kohli said that he does not want to play fancy shots as he has test cricket and the WTC final coming up

At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday, Virat Kohli hammered a hundred for the Royal Challengers Bangalore against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in an Indian Premier League match.

With his sixth century in the IPL, Kohli tied with former colleague Chris Gayle for the most centuries ever scored in the tournament. The former RCB captain reached his century after flicking a ball from Bhuvneshwar Kumar over mid-on for six.

Kohli, whose previous IPL century came in 2019, began his team’s chase against SRH with two consecutive boundaries off Bhuvneshwar. The 34-year-old, who smashed 12 fours and 4 sixes, was well supported by his captain, Faf du Plessis, as the two put up a record partnership to all but secure the game for RCB.

In 2016, when he scored an IPL-record 973 runs, four of Kohli’s six hundred were scored. After Kohli reached triple digits, Bhuvneshwar got rid of him by getting him to hole out to Glenn Phillips in the deep.

At the post-match press conference, Virat Kohli highlighted an interesting fact. He said that he does not play the fancy shots as the best T20 batsmen play. Kohli stressed the fact that he has a World Test Championship final coming up after the IPL. So, he does need to look after his technique and focus on Test cricket as well.

We all hope to see him scoring runs consistently in Test cricket as well. Recently, he scored his first Test hundred since 2019 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad against Australia in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India will face Australia in the World Test Championship final in Oval starting from June 7.

Virat Kohli said“I don’t play fancy shots, I have test cricket coming as well, I need to look at my technique as well”.
