Usman Khawaja sarcastically supports Kapil Dev’s call of dropping Virat Kohli from T20 internationals

Usman Khawaja has recently made a comeback to the Australian test team and is in brilliant form

The Australian batsman Usman Khawaja has sarcastically supported Kapil Dev’s call of dropping Virat Kohli from the Indian T20I squad because of his indifferent form.

Kapil Dev, who is regarded as India’s best ever allrounder, came down hard on Kohli recently for not being fluent in the shortest format of the game and asked the question if Ravichandran Ashwin can be kept out of India’s playing XI in test match cricket despite taking more than 400 wickets in the format, why can’t Kohli be kept out of the T20I XI regardless of however many runs he has scored in the past?

The opinion on Kapil Dev’s statement is divided and it was actually the Indian captain Rohit Sharma himself who played it down yesterday saying that the experts are only watching the game from outside and they don’t know what thought process the team management is working with and what kind of role has been given to a certain player.

Usman Khawaja commented on the Instagram post of ICC

The official Instagram page of the International Cricket Council (ICC) also asked a question to its followers what they think about the recent statement passed by Kapil Dev on India’s former captain Virat Kohli. The fans commented on the post in large numbers, but Usman Khawaja also commented on it and his reply was very sarcastic.

Khawaja wrote below the post, “Averages 50 at 140. Good call. Australia agrees”. What Usman Khawaja probably wanted to convey with that comment was that the opposition teams around the world wouldn’t mind the fact that India is thinking about dropping a player of the caliber of Kohli, who can bat at a strike rate as high as 140 and can still maintain an average of 50.

Usman Khawaja is currently playing for Australia in a test series in Sri Lanka and the left hander has already put on a match-winning performance in the first test match in Galle.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
