This is precisely the reason why they keep staging many games for India. Moreover, the strength and core of the Indian squad has become so strong that they have the extra cushion to rotate players whenever required.

India to play 1 Test, 3 ODIs against Afghanistan in June 2026

The International Cricket Council (ICC) officially released the Future Tours Programme (FTP) for 2023-27 recently. The Indian men’s cricket team will have a hectic schedule in the next cycle of the FTP.

Overall, the men’s cricket team will play as many as 141 games irrespective of the ICC and ACC events. Yes, you read it right. In June 2026, India will play a one-off Test match and three-match ODI series against Afghanistan.

After a couple of months of the same year, India will lock horns with the Afghanistan cricket team for the three-match T20I series. Before India’s tour of Afghanistan, the cash-rich IPL would happen in March-June 2026.

It is also cognizance of the fact that the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 will be held in India and Sri Lanka in February-March 2026. Meanwhile, Team India are in New Zealand to play three T20Is followed by three ODIs.

The first T20I between India and Black Caps will start on November 18 in Wellington. Both teams have been preparing for the T20I challenge and it will be quite interesting to see which team will get the better of the other.
