UAE T20 league, the inaugural edition of which will be played in January next year, is reportedly offering some of the top players a salary in the range of 450,000 US Dollars, which is close to 3.5 crore INR. That makes the league the second most lucrative league in the world.
IPL is the most lucrative T20 league in the world with the highest paid player KL Rahul fetching a salary close to 2.1 million US Dollars. After the IPL, it’s the Big Bash League (BBL) of Australia and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which used to rank second and third in terms of offering salaries to top players, but they were offering salaries only about one-tenth of the IPL salaries.
The highest paid player in the new BBL draft will fetch 238,000 US Dollars, while in the PSL, the number stands at 200,000 US Dollars. It has been reported by ESPNcricinfo that the UAE T20 league will comfortably leave behind both BBL and PSL, as they are willing to offer double the salary that is being offered in those tournaments.

This might be one of the reasons why some of Australia’s own players, out of which David Warner is the most prominent name, want to play in the UAE league, rather than Australia’s own league, the BBL.
More than 4 overseas players are likely to be allowed in playing XI of each team in the UAE T20 league
There have been strong reactions in the Australian cricket community about David Warner’s request to be allowed to play in the UAE T20 league and it now remains to be seen if Cricket Australia (CA) allows Warner to go to UAE.
However, the salary package that the UAE T20 league is offering is going to ensure that it attracts some of the top players in the world. Another unique thing about the UAE T20 league is that it has room for a lot of overseas players because more than 4 overseas players are likely to be allowed in the playing XI of each team, which isn’t the case in any other T20 league in the world.
