Two players that KKR may opt for in place of Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of IPL 2023 with a recurring back injury

If the withdrawal of Shakib Al Hasan was already not enough, in a fresh blow to the aspirations of KKR, their skipper, Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the IPL and the WTC finale due to a back-injury that has been troubling him for a while. With all said and done, as far as reports by ESPN Cricinfo go, he will be out of action for at least three months.

KKR has already been in all sorts of problem in the ongoing IPL with Shakib being no longer a part of the team followed by Shreyas Iyer’s injury. As the report goes, he will be travelling abroad for a surgery that will keep him out of the game for a while. Things have gone to such an extent that he is being given injections to keep his pain numb. Here are two possible options that KKR may explore to get in his place in the ongoing IPL.

#1 Dinesh Bana

Dinesh Bana’s domestic exploits haven’t particularly been great but his form for the Indian U19 cricket team was absolutely mind-blowing as he hammered crucial knocks under the pump. He is a young player who can very well be the part of KKR’s future and with the current crop of players they have, most of them have been struggling to keep themselves in the hunt. If they manage to land Dinesh Bana, it will not just be an addition to the current edition but it will also enhance their future.

#2 Shreyas Gopal

This may not be exactly a like-for-like change for KKR but it will definitely be a value addition to the side, considering Shreyas Gopal’s rampant form in the domestic tournaments, both with the bat and the ball. He was clinical in his execution, he was amidst wickets and most importantly he was finding himself in the thick of things. Albeit KKR’s need for a specialist batter, addition of valued all-rounders alongside impact players who would come in, would give them a massive boost for batting.
