“Tribute to Afridi”-Twitter reacts as Rohit Sharma creates an embarrassing record against the Chennai Super Kings

Rohit Sharma has scored back-to-back ducks in this IPL.

Rohit Sharma is currently having a forgettable outing in the IPL 2023. The right-handed batsman has been dismissed for a duck against CSK. Thanks to the brilliant strategy of MS Dhoni, who moved up to the wickets and didn’t allow Rohit to walk down the pitch, Rohit Sharma has scored back-to-back ducks in this IPL. He didn’t trouble the scores in the game against PBKS either. As a matter of fact, the veteran batsman now holds the record for scoring the most number of ducks in IPL history (16), and he also surpassed Gautam Gambhir to score the most number of ducks in IPL as skipper (11).

CSK won the toss and opted to bowl first. While CSK didn’t make any changes to their squad, Mumbai made two tactical changes, as Raghav Goyal is making his debut for MI and the man in form Tilak Verma is replaced by Tristan Stubbs as Tilak is injured. Cameron Green (6) was promoted as opener, but he failed to impress with the bat, and the southpaw wicketkeeper batsman, Ishan Kishan (7) failed to create any impact with the bat either.

Skipper Rohit Sharma came to bat at number 3 and fell prey to Ravindra Jadeja, not to forget it was a horrible shot selection at the same time. Vice captain Surya Kumar Yadav tried to build the innings before he got out for 26. Nehal Wadhera (64) was the standout Performer for Mumbai Indians as the youngster scored his maiden IPL fifty. Mumbai scored 139 runs in their designated quota of 20 overs. Mumbai is known for defending low totals so they are not completely out of the game.

Rohit has scored 184 runs in this IPL thus far in 9 innings, averaging slightly over 20. He is often criticized for his poor shot selection by the experts and the cricket fraternity. Fans on Twitter didn’t mince their words and expressed their frustration as Rohit created this unwanted record. Here are a few of the tweets.
