“This is why cricket is religion in India”, Twitter goes berserk as CSK secures their first win of IPL 2023

CSK beats LSG in a high-scoring thriller despite full-blown resistance from LSG

It was finally reprieve for the Chennai Super Kings fans as they opened their account in the ongoing IPL after an early scare that saw the Caribbean force, Kyle Mayers going all ballistic to keep the chase on the right track. However, once the spinners arrived in the party, CSK was right back in the game.

After being put to bat, Chennai went berserk as Ruturaj Gaikwad kept on hammering on all cylinders while Devon Conway joined the dance too. The opening pair of Conway and Gaikwad added 110 runs before Ravi Bishnoi could throw in a spanner. Shivam Dube and Moeen Ali shuffled their batting positions and both of them looked pretty solid for their short stay in the crease.

Chennai’s new approach was go hard from ball one and there would be no relent whatsoever. Apart from Ben Stokes, every one was bang on their money. Ravindra Jadeja had another off day with the bat. However, the remainder of Chennai’s batting line up was poetry in motion or hell on wheels, whatever suits your bill perfectly.

Chasing 218, Lucknow Super Giants came out all guns blazing, thanks to a sumptuous display from Kyle Mayers who smashed a 22-ball-53 while Rahul kept tabs at the other end. However, once Mayers fell, it was a down slide for the Giants as they lost Deepak Hooda, KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya fell apart in no time.

Thanks to MS Dhoni’s signature calm as CSK secure their maiden win

Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran started fighting back with a brief cameo as Lucknow Super Giants started fighting again. It was the arrival of Ayush Badoni as the Impact Player and Krishnappa Gowtham who started bringing out the late charge as Chennai Super Kings needed some late assistance to help themselves across the line. Eventually after the nip and tuck encounter, the Super Kings could find themselves in the groove as they opened their account.

This is what Twitter had to say about Chennai’s maiden win in the IPL 2023.
