India vs England 5th Test has been cancelled due to concerns over rising COVID cases in the Indian camp. The series final was due to start on September 10th at the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Stadium in Manchester. In this article, we take a look at Shane Warne‘s reaction as India vs England 5th Test gets cancelled.
India vs England 5th Test gets cancelled
During the Oval Test, a few members of the support staff of Team India had tested positive for COVID. Ravi Shastri was also one of the members to have contracted the virus. Hence, he had to self-isolate and did not make it to the stadium on Day 5.
A few days ago, Yogesh Parmar, India’s second physio, also tested positive for COVID. All the Indian Team members were tested again and all returned with negative reports. This had initially cleared the roadblocks for the 5th Test at Manchester. However, it is said that a few members in the Indian camp had apprehensions about playing the game. This triggered a conversation between BCCI and ECB. A short while ago, ECB confirmed that the match has been cancelled. With IPL due to start on September 19th, there is no clarity regarding when the final game would happen.

After the Oval Test, Warne had said that Virat Kohli and his team’s performance was brilliant, and particularly praised the Indian captain for his energy. He tweeted, “This is such a shame – as itβs been a wonderful series !” to convey his opinion about the news of the game getting cancelled.
