“This inclusion makes close to 0 sense,” Twitterati unhappy after BCCI names Mohammed Siraj as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in SA T20Is

Jasprit Bumrah suffered back injury and was ruled out of the South Africa series.

Fans on Twitter were unhappy with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after they named Mohammed Siraj as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian T20I side for the ongoing series against South Africa. They lashed out at the governing body for not giving the opportunity to Mohammad Shami.

Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa

In what was a major blow for the Indian Cricket Team, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa. The pacer suffered a back injury and the governing body didn’t risk playing him.

The pacer is currently in Bangalore for various tests and scans and also there have reports that he will miss the T20 World Cup 2022 as well. With Bumrah not being there, India has named Mohammed Siraj as his replacement for the ongoing series.

Notably, Bumrah returned from the injury recently. He played two games against Australia and now has injured himself again. On the other hand, Siraj last played for India in T20Is in February this year against West Indies.

BCCI naming Siraj as a replacement comes as a surprise as the pacer was on the sidelines for a while and many expected Mohammad Shami to be named as the replacement player.

But the pacer is likely to report to NCA after testing negative for Covid-19 and pass the fitness test. It is now expected that Shami will replace Bumrah if he’s ruled out of the T20 World Cup as well.
