Sehwag Slammed Hyderabad’s Slow Batting For Their Defeat Against Delhi Capitals

Sehwag felt that the game was very boring

Sunrisers Hyderabad was handed another terrible defeat yesternight as Delhi Capitals had a canter in the park after a superlative all-round display. Sehwag didn’t mince his words when it came to slamming the Orange Army after such a modest display.

Rabada and Nortje set the stage ablaze with an extraordinary brand of pace while Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant had no ado at all in chasing down the posted target.

The batting woes of Hyderabad

Williamson opted to bat first after winning the toss but Warner’s early departure set the tone of doom for the Orange Army. Williamson did try to hang in there with two shards of fortune as he was dropped twice en route to his tardy 18. However, Axar Patel got rid of the big man as the Kiwi skipper’s luck ran out.

The fall of wickets nosedived for Sunrisers with Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav barely scratching the surface while some late resistance from Abdul Samad and Rashid Khan kept them afloat.

Former Indian opener, Virender Sehwag was absolutely furious with the way Sunrisers batted and had every reason to believe that it was their tumultuous batting that led to their downfall.

This is what Sehwag had to say to SRH

In a video, Sehwag was heard saying, “Is ball something to eat that too in T20? Don’t eat the ball. If you are hungry, eat food.”

In fact, in a joking way, Sehwag also said that the innings of Hyderabad was so slow that even the ball must have felt a stinging jab of boredom.

He added, “As Harshad Mehta had said be it market or cricket the biggest risk is not taking any risk. But Hyderabad was playing so sluggishly that even the ball would have said this to them in agony – ‘Maro mujhe…maaro mujhe (please hit me).”

In response to Hyderabad’s abysmal display, the Delhi batter meant business as Dhawan played a firm knock of 42 at the top of the order while he was aptly supported by former skipper, Shreyas Iyer and current captain and wicket-keeper, Rishabh Pant.

This was a mismatch of a contest as Sunrises have been languishing in the bottom spot for a while now and their exploits have been downright ordinary with just one victory from eight games while Delhi is comfortably stationed at the peak with seven wins from nine matches that has seen them chronicling 14 points already.
