Former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath lauded England for their staggering brand of play in Tests and warned Pat Cummins-led side ahead of the Ashes 2023, saying that the Ben Stokes-led English side would be tough to beat.
“You’ve got to give it to the English. The way they’re going about it is absolutely fantastic,” Glenn McGrath lauds England
England’s Bazball concept has taken the World by storm. Under the leadership of Ben Stokes and coach McCullum, they have looked at a completely different side as they have adopted a fearless approach and instead of being conservative, which they followed earlier, they are going for the kill.
They are yet to lose a series as they first whitewashed New Zealand, pounded India by 7 wickets to win the rescheduled match and then won the Test series against South Africa. And most recently they thumped Pakistan 3-0 at the home with their attacking mindset.
Ever since Stokes took over the captaincy, English players looked very optimistic on the field as they have played an attacking brand of cricket and made many applaud them for their heroics. In their recent matches whenever it seemed England is in trouble someone chipped in and bailed the side out of trouble with the counter-attacking innings.
However, their real test will begin when they will play Ashes against Australia later this year. The iconic five-Test series will be played from 16th June to 27th July.

With the series just a few months away, former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath has lauded England for their staggering play. Speaking to Talksport, he said:
‘You’ve got to give it to the English. The way they’re going about it is absolutely fantastic. Positive, aggressive, backing yourself. I think of that team in 2005 that beat my Australia team for the first time in a long time. That group was playing with a lot of confidence and they had the same group of guys together.”
“They’ve got a team full of confidence so they’re going to be tough to beat,” Glenn McGrath warns Australia ahead of Ashes
With England yet to lose a series under Stokes, McGrath feels that it’ll be tough for Australia to beat Ben Stokes’ England. He added:
“Michael Vaughan was doing a great job as a leader so maybe there’s something similar happening with Ben Stokes’ England. They’ve got a team full of confidence so they’re going to be tough to beat.’”
England will face New Zealand in the two away Test series next. The first game will be played on 16th February in Bay Oval followed by the second game to be played on 24th February at Basin Reserve. Whereas Australia will travel to India for Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
