“There is no hierarchy at Gujarat Titans”: An elated Hardik Pandya as his team gets closer to playoffs

IPL 2022: Captain Hardik Pandya and Gujarat Titans cement their place in the top 4 with yet another victory.

Hardik Pandya -the batsman- has been so impressive, that Hardik Pandya- the captain- has gone under the radar. In Pandya’s first season as captain, he has almost led his franchise into the playoffs. And the season is far from over.

Gujarat Titans won the ninth game of their inaugural IPL season. In an afternoon clash on Saturday, the Titans beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore with three balls to spare. In the post-match interview, Captain Hardik Pandya stressed the success mantra of the new entrants.

Pandya spoke about equality in the team. He said that he has always liked to grow with his team, and has never focused on individual growth over collective development. “Obviously, I might be the captain, but there is no hierarchy”, said Pandya when asked about their reason for the team’s success.

He added that the team believes in the motto of “One for All and All for One”. This is why all the players feel as important to the team as the captain of the team.

He said he could not ask for a better start as a captain as the team now has eight wins in their bag.

Hardik Pandya credits his bowlers for keeping VK at bay

Although Kohli got his name back in the runs, captain Pandya was hugely impressed with his bowlers. Virat hit his first half-century in fourteen IPL matches (58 runs off 53 balls).

However, the GT bowlers stuck to their plans against the former RCB Captain said Hardik. He added that even when Virat was in his zone, the bowlers managed to break the momentum by bowling a few dot deliveries.

When asked about the lack of bowling under his belt in recent games, he said: “I don’t have to… Whenever it comes, it comes.”

The Gujarat Titans next play against the Punjab Kings on Tuesday, 3rd May, at the DY Patil Stadium.
