Scotland defeats West Indies by 42 runs to begin their T20 World Cup 2022 with a win

It’s been a fantastic start to the T20 World Cup 2022. If it was Namibia who defeated Sri Lanka in the opening game, Scotland thumped West Indies in the third game to assert their authority and make a bold statement.

Asked to bat first, George Munsey (66*) and Michael Jones (20) stitched 55 runs partnership for the first wicket and took their team off the flyer. They then lost wickets in regular intervals but opener Munsey batted throughout the innings and vital contributions from Richie Berrington (16), Calum MacLeod (23) and Chris Greaves (16*) helped Scotland post a total of 160 runs on the board.

Scotland then bowled sensationally well as never allowed the West Indies batter to settle and kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Only Jason Holder kept his side in the hunt with 38-run knock rest all the batters failed to cross the 20-run mark.

For Scotland, every bowler chipped in at the crucial stage and picked wickets with Mark Watt being the pick of the bowlers with 3/12 in his four overs.  A collective bowling effort in end helped them bundle out the opposition for just 118 runs and win the game by 42 runs.
