Similar to The Hundred tournament that is currently going on in England, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has come up with its own version of a tournament named SKYEXCH 6IXTY. As the name of the tournament suggests, each team will get 60 balls to bat, which makes it a T10 tournament, but there are some other interesting rules to go with it.
Generally in a T10 game, the batting team gets a 2-over powerplay, but in SKYEXCH 6IXTY, the batting team can unlock a third over of powerplay too, if they manage to hit the ball for a six two times in the first two overs of the innings.
Once they unlock the third over of powerplay, the batting team doesn’t need to use it immediately, they can use that third over of powerplay at any stage of the innings, from the third to the ninth over according to their convenience.
Also, the bowlers won’t be bowling from different ends after every over as it happens in a T10 game. The first 5 overs in the 6IXTY games will be bowled from the same end and then the last 5 overs will be bowled from the other end. The ends will change only twice during the course of the innings.
Cash drop and mystery free hit in the SKYEXCH 6IXTY
There will be a “Cash drop” period during every game and in that period, the spectators will have to do something to ensure that they have the attention of the TV cameras. Whichever spectator manages to be on the screen for the longest time during that cash drop period will be given a cash reward of 500 USD by the sponsors of the tournament.
The mystery free hit will come into effect by the voting of the fans. If the fans feel that their team is not being able to hit the big shots, they can vote on the 6IXTY website and a certain no. of votes will unlock a mystery free hit for the batting team. The batsman won’t be dismissed on that mystery free hit ball.
🚨The organisers of The 6IXTY plans to organize the competition four times a year, with the possibility of hosting one of these quarterly events outside of the Carribean.@6ixtycricket
