Sarfaraz Khan, a batsman for Mumbai, had a perfect Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season with the bat, scoring a stunning 982 runs in nine innings and assisting his team in making it all the way to the championship game. The Mumbai batter thanked his father after receiving the Player of the Tournament award, which was well earned, after the conclusion of the championship match. In a match that was played on June 26 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Madhya Pradesh defeated Mumbai by a score of six wickets to win the championship.
Sarfaraz mentioned that he and his father would travel around on trains when they were poor. He went on to explain that if it were not for his father, he would not be as successful as he is now. Sarfaraz gave his father credit for his accomplishments. When he first began playing cricket, he said that one of his goals was to make a century for Mumbai when they were competing in the final of the Ranji Trophy. The 134 runs that Sarfaraz scored in the first inning moved him to his fourth century of the season.
“I have to give credit to my dad, who is now standing there. I’m simply doing the best I can to hold my position at the wicket and get some runs. I make it a point to compete in as many games as I can while maintaining my position and continuing to train in the same manner. You are all aware of the wild ride that I’ve experienced recently. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for my father,” Sarfaraz said after collecting the Player of the Series award at the presentation event.

“When we were poor, my father and I would ride the trains together when we went somewhere. When I first began playing cricket, my goal was to make a century for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. I never achieved that goal. That objective was accomplished. Then I had another dream in which I scored a hundred in the Ranji final when it was most important for my side to win. Because of this, I became emotional after scoring a century, and I even had tears in my eyes, because my father has put in a lot of hard work,” the Mumbai batter said.
Despite the valiant efforts of Sarfaraz in the final, Mumbai was unable to pull off the victory. After the first innings, they were outscored by Madhya Pradesh batsmen by a vast margin of 162, putting them in a position where they could not possibly win. Even though there were less than two days left in the match, Mumbai came out strong in the second innings, but they were only able to put 269 runs on the board. With a victory requirement of just 108 runs, Madhya Pradesh was able to complete its run chase in 29.5 overs and claim the trophy for the very first time.
