Sourav Ganguly to captain India again in a special match of Legends League Cricket (LLC) against world giants

The first edition of Legends League Cricket was organised in UAE, but the second edition is taking place in India

The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly will be captaining the Indian team in a special game of Legends League Cricket (LLC) that will be organized in September this year. It will not be the original Indian national team, but the Indian Maharajas squad which will only have retired Indian players.

The second season of Legends League Cricket will take place in India after the first season is a decent success in UAE, and Sourav Ganguly has been named the captain of Indian Maharajas which will be up against World Giants in a special game of the league.

The team that Sourav Ganguly has got to captain in Legends League Cricket is very reminiscent of the team that he played with when he was representing the original Indian national team in the international circuit about a couple of decades ago in the early 2000s.

Likes of Mohammed Kaif, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Virender Sehwag, Parthiv Patel, and many more cricketers, who are part of the Indian Maharajas squad, actually started their careers under the captaincy of Ganguly and it was Ganguly who backed them and gave them enough confidence at the start of their careers.

It will be quite nostalgic for some of the Indian fans to watch Ganguly captain an Indian team again and almost the same group of players whom he used to captain 20 years back. It has, however, not been confirmed whether Ganguly will play the full season of LLC or just a special game.

World giants squad to participate in Legends League Cricket has also got some big names

The world giants squad, which has been named to play against Indian Maharajas, has also got some big names and it will actually be captained by Eoin Morgan who is only a recently retired international cricketer and was the captain of the England ODI side which won the World Cup in 2019.

Apart from Morgan, the world giants squad also includes former heavyweights like Dale Steyn, Sanath Jayasuriya, Jonty Rhodes, Mitchell Johnson, and Muttiah Muralitharan.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
