On May 3, 2023, the 46th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 took place between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) at Mohali. In their fourth consecutive home loss, Shikhar Dhawan and company were unable to defend a target of 215. The home side scored over 200 runs for the second time, but this time they couldn’t protect their lead.
MI’s pursuit got started to the worst possible start as they lost Rohit Sharma early on. The MI captain left the major hunt with nothing in his account. PBKS made an attempt to tease Rohit by mocking his decision to get out on a duck.
Mumbai Indians shuts PBKS Twitter handle with a savage response for trolling Rohit Sharma
They tweeted out “0” and the initial letter of Rohit’s name. Rather than reply to PBKS’s tweet during the game, MI waited until the conclusion of the contest. After Tilak Varma hit the winning six, the visitors came back strong against PBKS.
After Rohit’s departure, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav grabbed charge and put up 116 runs for the third wicket. Ishan scored 75 runs off only 41 balls before being out in the 17th over, while Suryakumar scored a crucial 66 runs off 31 deliveries. The middle innings by Suryakumar were the deciding factor.
