“Rinku Singh will win against LSG in next year’s playoffs, these are just teasers that he is dropping”, Twitter reacts as Ravi Bishnoi said that his team was worried on every ball when Rinku Singh was batting

Rinku Singh innings: With their exciting win against the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Lucknow Super Giants punched their ticket to the playoffs of the IPL 2023. Krunal Pandya’s team narrowly won, beating Rinku Singh’s team by one run.

The home team got off to a blazing start in the chase, scoring 30 runs in the opening two overs. The LSG pacers were no match for the impromptu opening combination of Jason Roy and Venkatesh Iyer, who blasted 61 runs in the first six overs of KKR’s chase.

The spinners grabbed control of the game after the powerplay, but Krunal Pandya’s team found a way to get back into it after dismissing the well-set openers. Both Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Andre Russell left in rapid succession, giving the lead to the visiting team as they looked to clinch a playoff spot with a win.

LSG were ahead in the death overs, but they were given a major fright by Rinku Singh’s scorching half-century, in which he scored 20 runs off the final over. The visitors prevailed in a nail-biting conclusion, though, and he was left with too much to accomplish.

Nitish Rana, captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, won the toss and elected to bowl first on a fair pitch at the legendary Eden Gardens. Harshit Rana’s dismissal of Karan Sharma in the third over got KKR’s fast bowling unit, which has been under pressure throughout the tournament, off to a good start.

Despite losing the toss, the visitors built a solid powerplay owing to the partnership between Quinton de Kock and Prerak Mankad. The dismissal of Mankad by Vaibhav Arora rattled the Lucknow Super Giants, but the departure of Marcus Stoinis for a two-ball duck in the same over was the real bombshell.

Compounding the visitors’ woes, LSG captain Krunal Pandya and opener Quinton de Kock both perished in short succession. In the 11th over, with his side in a precarious position at 73/5, West Indian batter Nicholas Pooran unleashed a savage onslaught on the Men in Purple. Pooran blasted 58 runs off 30 deliveries, helping his team to a respectable 176 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

At the post-match presentation LSG leg spinner, Ravi Bishnoi said: “We were worried on each delivery we were bowling to Rinku Singh. I never saw such batting, he was unbelievable.”
