Royal Challengers Bangalore have been one of the strong teams in the history of India’s premier T20 competition. However, they didn’t win even a single trophy since the inaugural edition and that’s really disappointing.
In fact, they are the only team that made it to the finals on three occasions and failed to win a trophy. The last time when RCB made it to the finals was back in the IPL 2016 edition.
However, they surrendered at the hands of David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad in that season. AB de Villiers retired from all forms of the game and Virat Kohli also stepped down as RCB captain ahead of IPL 2021 season.
RCB management recruited the services of ex-Chennai Super Kings player Faf du Plessis at the mega IPL 2022 auction in Bengaluru. Under Faf du Plessis’ captaincy, RCB made it to the playoffs and also knocked Lucknow Super Giants out of the tournament.
Irfan Pathan discloses why RCB have all their bases covered
Former Indian cricketer, Irfan Pathan has opened up on the reason why Royal Challengers Banglore look like a well-settled side and that they have all their bases covered.
While speaking to Star Sports, Irfan Pathan echoed that Royal Challengers Bangalore look like a well-settled side. He backed his statement by adding that the team have fabulous openers in their ranks.
More importantly, Virat Kohli has attained his top form with the bat and his performances were there for everyone to see in the Asia Cup, T20 World Cup and the recently-concluded ODI series against Bangladesh.
Irfan Pathan also added that RCB have quality all-rounders including the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Wanindu Hasaranga, Shahbaz and Lomror. Besides that, they also have pretty good fast bowlers in the form of Josh Hazelwood, Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj.
RCB management will try their maximum best to sign the top players that suit their philosophy.
