Ravindra Jadeja belted out a defining knock last night against Kolkata Knight Riders as Chennai sealed a last-ball victory in a thrilling encounter.
Kolkata was off to a shaky start as they lost three of their top-order batters in a very short span of time. However, Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana pulled things back with the pyrotechnics coming out from the willow of Karthik in the end.
Shardul Thakur and Josh Hazlewood claimed two wickets each, while Jadeja claimed one for leaking just 22 runs from his quota of 4 overs.
The late drama in the game that levelled out Chennai
Chennai was off to a flying start, thanks to the duo of Du Plessis and Gaikwad. However, the Kolkata bowlers reeled them back in with a superlative display in the middle-overs and what seemed like a canter at the beginning turned into a stutter and needed a heroic knock from a special one to save the day from the blushes of a defeat.
Jadeja came out to bat in the 18th over and straight away intended business. He took out Prasidh Krishna for 20 runs in the 19th over with two colossal sixes and two classic boundaries, almost snatching away a victory from an intense situation.
However, a brilliant over from the Caribbean spinner, Sunil Narine took away their momentum and even got the better of Jadeja on the penultimate ball of the innings to intensify the drama. Deepak Chahar kept his calm to steer Chennai to victory on the last ball.

With this thrilling win over KKR, Chennai moved to the top of the table, while Kolkata Knight Riders still remained in the fourth spot with a decent display against the Kings.
