It was a complete thrashing for Australia in Nagpur. They didn’t get going in any of the departments as they batted, bowled poorly and even dropped catches in the field. However, with Test ending in just three days, they now will have 2 extra days to rejuvenate themselves and come back strongly. The Pat Cummins-led side was at receiving end of an inning and 132 runs loss. It’s fair to say that Australia made blunders in selection as well which backfired and gave them a tough time on the field. But Australians are known for their comeback and one cannot write them off. Therefore it is expected that they would come out all guns blazing. However, they are expected to dig into the poor areas from the first game and rectify them in the second game.
Predicting the Australian Playing 11 for the second Test against India
Usman Khawaja failed drastically in the first Test in Nagpur. He fell for low scores in both innings. But it is expected that he will retain his place in the side. There have been several reports that Australia might drop David Warner from the team. Therefore going by the reports it is likely that Matt Renshaw will open the innings. in the second Test against India.
The duo of Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith looked the most settled among Australian batters and therefore team would be reliant on them in the second Test. After missing out from the first game, Travis Head is also likely to walk into the team and play a crucial role at 5 with keeper Alex Carey at 6.

If Cameron Green is deemed fit to play the game, it is likely that he will walk straight into the XI. However, if he’s still unfit, Peter Handscomb is likely to retain his place in the team. The spin duo of Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy are likely to continue whereas Mitchell Starc is also expected to come back in place of Scott Boland and form a pace attack with skipper Pat Cummins.
