England international Sam Curran was one of the hottest prospects in the IPL 2023 mini-auction in Kochi. The young all-rounder registered himself at the auction for his base price of Rs 2 crore.

Multiple franchises engaged in intense bidding wars for the brightest prospect. However, in the end, Punjab Kings had the last laugh in the battle as they signed Sam Curran for a whopping INR 18.50 crore.

Sam Curran was one of the best-performing players for England in the recently-concluded ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The Englishman bagged as many as 13 wickets in the tournament.

His performances helped the Three Lions in crunch situations of the game as England made it all the way to the finals of the marquee event. England got the better of Pakistan in the final to win their second T20 World Cup honour.

Punjab Kings entered the auction with a massive purse of INR 32.2 crore and they showed a great deal of interest to sign the England international for a staggering price tag.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings took to their official Twitter handle and wished good luck to Sam Curran after the latter was sold to the Mohali-based franchise.

CSK’s post went viral in no time on social media and even the fans wished good luck to the England all-rounder. Sam Curran has played 32 games in India’s premier T20 tournament.

He has accumulated 337 runs at an average of 22.5 and a superb strike rate of 149.8 and Punjab Kings will surely benefit from the all-rounder’s services in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League.

Sam Curran has been decent with the ball where he has taken 32 wickets to his name, registering his personal best bowling figures of 4/11.
