Openers: Rohit Sharma (C) and Yashasvi Jaiswal

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal will continue to open the batting in India’s playing 11 for the Ranchi Test against England. While Rohit scored a century, Yashasvi scored a double-century in Rajkot. Rohit pulled India out of the hole while Yashasvi put India in the driver’s seat.

Middle-Order: Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel (WK)

The middle-order is likely to wear the same look. Shubman Gill, Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel all had a good run in the previous Test. Rajat Patidar did not do well, with single-digit scores in both the innings. Since KL Rahul is not there, he could get another chance.

Kuldeep Yadav was included in the squad ahead of Axar Patel. The leg-spinner did well with the ball and also displayed his batting skills as a nightwatchman. Jasprit Bumrah is rested for the game. It will be interesting to see who replaces him. Mukesh Kumar did well in the Ranji Trophy and could get another chance. Or else, Akash Deep could make his debut.
