PAK vs WI Live Update: At the second one-day international (ODI) match of the three-match series, which took place in Multan, Pakistan recorded a resounding victory against the West Indies by a score of 120 runs. With this victory, Pakistan secured the series as well, making this their eighth victory in a row over the Caribbean country in a One-Day International series. Both Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq had outstanding performances with the bat, as Babar Azam struck 77 and Imam-ul-Haq scored 72 to bring Pakistan’s total to 275/8 in 50 overs. In their reply, the West Indies were all out for 155.
Even though Pakistan won both games by large margins, one choice that has been criticized by veteran Pakistan cricketers is the decision not to include Shan Masood in the ODI team. After the victory, even the team’s previous captain, Inzamam-ul-Haq, waded into the discussion by posting a video on his official YouTube account in which he discussed newcomers Mohammad Haris and Shan Masood.
PAK vs WI Live Update: Inzamam offers suggestion for the Pakistan Middle Order
“When you speak about Pakistan’s batting, I believe the number five spot is the most crucial position, and a genuine batter should be playing there. We are now playing Haris, who is relatively new, but competing at this level might be challenging for a younger player. We need to be building up his confidence, but as things are, I don’t believe you can play him,” Inzamam remarked.
“This issue seems to be present in both Twenty20 internationals and One-Day Internationals. Shan Masood is a talented cricket player who has been playing really well recently. If we put him in the fifth spot, we should see an improvement in his performance. Even other players, such as Khushdil Shah, and players like him, would profit from him. We have Rizwan at no. 4, and if Shan plays at 5, their task would be to end the game with the lower-middle order,” Inzi said.
The former captain of Pakistan also discussed the Twenty20 World Cup, which is slated to take place in Australia later this year. He insisted that the team needs “seasoned” players in key batting positions to be successful in the tournament.
“We won’t have pitches like this when we move to Australia. We need a veteran player, a player with significant playing experience. Therefore, we should give some thought to this,” Inzamam remarked.
