“Only batsman who has given me nightmares,” Gautam Gambhir showers praise on Rohit Sharma on his 35th birthday

Gautam Gambhir rates Rohit Sharma very highly as a batsman in white ball cricket

It’s the 35th birthday of the captain of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma, today and while the birthday wishes are pouring in for the star cricketer who is fondly called the “Hitman”, Rohit’s former teammate Gautam Gambhir has wished Rohit in his own unique way.

While wishing Rohit on his birthday, Gautam Gambhir has revealed that the Indian captain was the only batsman who used to give him nightmares when he was the captain of KKR. Apart from Rohit, there was no other batsman in the IPL who used to make him lose his sleep.

Gambhir has said this in the past as well that although he came across some of the most destructive batsmen like Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers while captaining KKR in the IPL, but the batsman that he used to fear the most was Rohit Sharma.

According to Gambhir, Rohit was so versatile that he could be extremely destructive against both fast as well as spin bowling and he could be destructive on any kind of surface.

From 2012 to 2015, there was a phase in the Indian Premier League when only Rohit and Gambhir were the two captains to win the IPL trophy twice each and no other captain could lay hands on the trophy during that period, although CSK was one team which qualified for the playoffs during all those 4 seasons.

Rohit Sharma is going through a very tough time in his IPL captaincy stint right now

Gautam Gambhir later left KKR and took up the captaincy of Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), but he didn’t prove to be as successful there as he was at KKR.

Even Rohit Sharma, at the moment, is going through a very tough time in his IPL captaincy stint, as his team Mumbai Indians have become the first ever team in the history of the IPL to lose their first 8 matches in a row.

Mumbai Indians are playing again today on Rohit Sharma’s birthday and they would want to put on a quality performance for their captain against a tough opponent like Rajasthan Royals who are sitting second on IPL 2022 points table.
