“Make Gautam Gambhir the coach of Indian cricket team” – Twitter reacts after Gambhir said Indian core team should play together in ODI and mustn’t take breaks in 2023

The last time when Team India won the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup was back in 2011 when the Men in Blue famously scripted a historic win over Sri Lanka to win their second ODI World Cup in their history.

However, since then, it has been a series of failures and disappointments as they failed to make a bid for the third title. Team India have been falling short in certain areas and they paid the price for it in marquee events.

During the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, India made it to the semi-finals of the competition but lost to the England cricket team in the finals. They do have enough tools and resources to win ICC titles and it remains to be seen how they would approach the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

The marquee event is scheduled to be hosted by Team India during October and November 2023. In fact, it will also be the first time the tournament is held entirely in India.

Gambhir chips in with a word of advice for Indian cricket team

With plenty of time left for the Indian cricket team management to figure out the perfect playing XI for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, the selection committee is bound to perform experimentations in the upcoming ODIs.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer, Gautam Gambhir who was part of India’s T20 World Cup 2007 glory and ICC ODI World Cup 2011 triumph chipped in with a word of advice for the Indian cricket team.

He highlighted that the Indian core team should play altogether in One Day Internationals and that they must not take breaks in 2023. Gambhir believes if they follow this, productivity might increase as it may positively reflect on the overall performance of the team.

India will be playing a good number of ODIs in the first three months of the next calendar year. They will play three ODIs against Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Australia respectively.
