Lucknow Super Giants have been one of the best-performing teams in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League. In the previous season, they qualified for the playoffs but were knocked out by RCB in Eliminator.
As far as this season is concerned, they are just a step away from qualifying for the playoffs. Right now, they are holding the third spot in the IPL 2023 points table with seven wins, five defeats followed by one no-result.
They have collected 15 points from the games they have played so far. If Sunrisers Hyderabad manages to beat Royal Challengers Bangalore in tonight’s clash, then both LSG and CSK will qualify for the playoffs.
If RCB goes on to beat SRH, then Lucknow Super Giants will have to beat Kolkata Knight Riders anyhow to qualify for the playoffs. It will take them to 17 points and will finish in third place.
LSG will be wearing Mohun Bagan special jersey for their last league match
Meanwhile, in the latest development, Lucknow Super Giants will be donning the Mohun Bagan special jersey for their last league match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The match between LSG and KKR will kick off on May 20, Saturday. It will be quite interesting to see how LSG will respond in the next game. If LSG beat KKR in the next game, they will end up at 17 points and they do have a chance of finishing at the second spot if Chennai Super Kings lose to Delhi Capitals in the next game.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders are placed seventh on the table with 12 points from 13 games. The maximum points KKR can get is 14 points if they beat LSG in the next game and KKR’s NRR is bad too.
If RCB manages to win even one game out of the two games then it will be tough for KKR due to NRR. Moreover, Mumbai Indians need to lose their last game against SRH, so a lot of permutations and combinations need to go in favour of KKR in order to advance to the playoffs.
