As the remainder of the Indian Premier League is just around the corner, Kolkata Knight Riders may not be able to avail the services o their most expensive cricketer, Pat Cummins.
Though nothing has been assured as of now, Cricket.com.au has reported that Pat Cummins, Kane Richardson, Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith are the contracted players who may not return for the remainder of the tournament.
In the last week, Cricket Australia has confirmed the fact that they have allowed the Australian players to be a part of the second phase of the Indian Premier League.
Going by the glittering ranks of the team, several Australian cricketers ply their trade for various IPL franchises that involve Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Pat Cummins, David Warner, Steven Smith and Marcus Stoinis.
Why exactly isn’t Pat Cummins playing?
The likes of Jhye Richardson, Meredith, Cummins and Kane Richardson also refrained from traveling to Bangladesh quoting personal reasons.
Cummins is a crucial all-rounder for Kolkata Knight Riders, while Meredith and Jhye Richardson play for Punjab Kings. Kane is under contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore for the ongoing season.
Going by the reports of cricket.com.au, Smith, Warner and Maxwell will return to the domestic extravaganza while there are vehement talks of Nathan Ellis, the budding fast bowler, to replace any one of the aforementioned names.
Cricket Australia has also announced a 15-member squad for the imminent T20 World Cup, which will be held in Oman and UAE. Josh Inglis has been chosen as a part of the squad, while Nathan Ellis is also in the reserves.
Inglis’ recent form for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League and the T20 Blast has notched himself the national call-up. Ellis, on the contrary, hammered a sizzling performance against Bangladesh, becoming the first bowler to rack up a hat-trick in the shortest format of the game in the international arena.
