KKR Reacts To Andre Russell’s Fastest Half-Century In CPL

KKR awaits the arrival of their hero

Andre Russell’s mad hitting: The cricketing world stayed witness to some crazy batting in the last few hours as India’s Cheteshwar Pujara, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli belted out impeccable knocks to keep India in contention though it may still seem extraneous at this point in time.

However, it simply got madder out there as Andre Russell turned the heat with some absolutely incredible pyrotechnics as the big man from West Indies hammered the fastest half-century in CPL’s history.

In the third match of CPL 2021, Jamaica Tallawahs were pitted against St Lucia Kings and the world was left in awe as Russell came out at his fullest swing, destroying the bowlers completely.

After being put to bat, Jamaica was off to a fiery start, thanks to Chadwick Walton and Kennar Lewis pumping some early runs in the powerplay. The duo added 81 runs for the opening partnership from just 6 overs before Chase bested Lewis with a screamer.

This, however, was simply the prelude to the real madness that was waiting to unravel later. Rovman Powell and Haider Ali also blasted some insane strokes to dampen the Kings’ spirits as the duo joined forces and pushed the Tallawahs to 199 from 17 overs.

Andre Russell’s crazy knock

That is when the big man who will soon be in action at IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders walked into the middle. It was vintage Russell with absolutely zero regard for the bowlers as he tossed them around the park at will.

He hammered 3 fours and 6 sixes en route to the fastest half-century in CPL. He smashed the preceding record of JP Duminy who smashed a half-century in just 15 balls in 2019 against Trinbago Knight Riders.

Tallawahs piled 255 for the loss of 5 at the end of the first innings. Chasing the monumental total, the Kings were already down to their knees early in the innings. A late lunge from the new Bengaluru signing, Tim David did spark a few hopes but it wasn’t really enough for them to stay alive in the contest.

Migael Pretorious rocked with the ball in the hand for Tallawahs as he claimed four wickets for 32 runs. Russell also did a decent job with the ball in his hand as he managed to claim figures of 3-0-19-1.

Russell will be back for the upcoming IPL in September and will be a part of Kolkata Knight Riders as they resume their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore on the 20th of September. Tim David, on the contrary, will be a part of RCB as the two teams will collide with contrasting fortunes.

Kolkata Knight Riders were extremely happy to watch their big man in action as they posted a tweet that would instigate a lot of hopes and dreams in an otherwise marred campaign so far.
