“Kept his ego aside”, Twitter reacts as Rishabh Pant scores his first ODI century in the 3rd ODI against England

After failing to chase an attainable target in the second ODI, Team India was put in a similar situation on Sunday. The bowlers restricted England to 259 runs and India was reduced to 38-3. However, Rishabh Pant stepped up and helped India win the game. In the process, he also scored his first ODI century. Here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as Rishabh Pant scores his first ODI century in the 3rd ODI against England.

Rishabh Pant scores his first ODI century

While Rishabh Pant has already scored five centuries in Tests, he was yet to get to the coveted milestone in the shorter formats. The fans of the Indian Team were also waiting for a good performance in ODI cricket from Pant. The southpaw delivered that against England in the 3rd ODI.

It was a difficult spot that India was in. The top-order was back in the hut and after a brief partnership, Suryakumar Yadav had also lost his wicket. Therefore, the team needed a partnership and Rishabh Pant did just that, with the help of Hardik Pandya. While Hardik scored 71 runs at a strike rate of close to 130, Pant played sensibly and controlled his natural instinct of taking on the bowlers. Despite that, Pant’s knock included 16 boundaries and two sixes. In the end, he helped India win the game by five wickets. Pant ended with a brilliant score of 125 from 113 balls. The squad also won the series, making it a good end to the tour.

Twitter reacts to the brilliant knock

Pant has received a lot of criticism for being irresponsible in the shorter formats. He had also not had a great innings to show for, till now. However, in a crunch game with the series on the line, Pant pulled off one of his best knocks in ODI cricket so far. Twitter was naturally happy with his performance and elated for the Delhi lad. Here are some of the reactions in this regard:
