New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham is a part of the Mumbai Indians squad this year in IPL. The Kiwi player had an average season with the Punjab Kings last year. As a result, the Mohali-based franchise released him from their squad.
The Mumbai Indians signed him at IPL Auction 2021, with many fans believing that he would be the team’s secondary all-rounder. However, the same has not been the case thus far in IPL 2021.
The Mumbai-based franchise have gone in with the quartet of Kieron Pollard, Quinton de Kock, Trent Boult and Marco Jansen as their four overseas players in the playing XI.
Interestingly, the Mumbai Indians have preferred uncapped South African all-rounder Marco Jansen over James Neesham in the playing XI. The possible reason behind that could be that not many players have played against Jansen. Also, he is a 6 feet 8 inches tall left-arm fast bowler who can generate extra bounce.
James Neesham describes his IPL 2021 experience
Every cricket fan would know that James Neesham has become very popular on social media because of his witty replies. Recently, he uploaded a photo from Kovalam, Tamil Nadu, where he enjoyed his time at the beach with his Mumbai Indians teammate Chris Lynn.
Neesham hilariously captioned the two images posted by him as follows:
“IPL 2021 so far: Either carrying water or sitting on it.”
It is pertinent to note that James Neesham mentioned the first part as carrying water because he has been serving drinks to his Mumbai Indians teammates during IPL 2021. When he is not doing that, he is at the beach sitting on the water.
It will be interesting to see if the Mumbai Indians include James Neesham in their playing XI during the upcoming games. With Kieron Pollard and Marco Jansen performing well, the chances that Neesham gets a game soon are very low.
