It is well-known that the established Australian cricketers hardly play in the Big Bash League. However, this time around, there would be a few players in the competition. Further, Steve Smith said he might play the full season of BBL after retirement. Here, we take a look as Steve Smith reveals his plans after retirement in the Big Bash League.
Steve Smith talks about his plans for the Big Bash League
Speaking ahead of his BBL return, Smith mentioned that the tournament is simpler to play. He said, “It’s a lot easier on the mind and body. Certainly, something I’ll be looking at potentially when I finish up.” However, he clarified that he was not close to retirement. He said, “But I’ve still got a lot of cricket left in me. I’m not going anywhere for the time being, I’m really excited by what’s coming up and I feel like I am in a good place.”
The solid batter concluded, saying, “It’s a lot easier on the mind and body (than Test cricket). It doesn’t take too much out of you. It’s definitely something I’ll be looking at potentially when I finish up.” It needs to be seen how Smith does well in BBL, especially after he lost his spot in the Australian T20I squad and also in the IPL.
BBL needs an uplift by Cricket Australia
Meanwhile, it is high time that Cricket Australia finds a solution for the declining popularity of the BBL. The established Aussie stars are hardly available and this makes it difficult for the popularity to increase.

Even some of the elite foreign cricketers also do not participate in this competition. Even if they do, it is for a short-term contract. Recently, due to a political issue, even Rashid Khan said he would consider his future in the BBL.
