India vs West Indies 3rd ODI: 2 players who must get a chance in the playing XI

India vs West Indies 3rd ODI will be the final game of the ongoing ODI series on Wednesday. The game will happen at the same venue in Trinidad. With the series won, India could try out a few experiments. While the context will be the 2023 ODI World Cup, the idea of game time before the 2022 T20 World Cup will also be one of the agendas. A few players are yet to get a chance despite doing well.

They will look for an opportunity on 27th July. On that note, in the below section, we take a look at 2 Indian players who must get a chance in playing XI for the India vs West Indies 3rd ODI.

1) Arshdeep Singh deserves a chance in India vs West Indies 3rd ODI

It was a surprise in the previous encounter when Avesh Khan was given a chance ahead of Arshdeep Singh. From India’s perspective, a left-arm seamer is more important than a right-arm hit-the-deck bowler, which India anyways has a few of them. Moreover, in List A games so far, Arshdeep has been better than Avesh.

Nevertheless, Arshdeep is expected to get a chance in the final encounter. In the run-up to the ODI World Cup, India needs a ready left-arm pacer. Even for the 2022 T20 World Cup, India might need an option. Considering these factors, the Punjab lad should get an opportunity.

2) Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad is also one of the Indian players who must get a chance in playing XI for the India vs West Indies 3rd ODI. After doing well in the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy, the Maharashtra opener has hardly got opportunities.

Considering he is in good form in the 50-over format, he deserves a few games. At the moment, it is unlikely that the opening combination of Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill will be disturbed. While Dhawan is the skipper, Gill has looked good so far. One option might be to have Rutu in the middle order. Suryakumar Yadav is needed for the T20I series and could be given a rest. In that case, Ruturaj will have to play at No.4. It needs to be seen if the management will take this route.
