‘It Wasn’t Me, It Was Dinesh Karthik At The Other End’- Ashish Nehra Hilariously Suggests That Hardik Pandya Should Have Taken The Single In The Last Over

IND vs SA Live Update: Former Indian bowler Ashish Nehra believes that Dinesh Karthik should have been given the strike by Hardik Pandya in the last over and that Pandya should have taken a single instead. The captain of the Gujarat Titans made his comeback to international cricket with 31 runs off only 12 balls, but he was unable to give fellow returnee Dinesh Karthik a single. Pandya also bowled for Team India in the fifth over, but South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius hit him for three sixes during that over.

After Rishabh Pant was caught off the first ball of the last over of the inning by Anrich Nortje, Dinesh Karthik was brought into the game. He hit a single on the second ball, which allowed Pandya to get a strike. The former member of the Mumbai Indians who was a veteran in the team’s history struck a six-over-long off on the fourth ball, but he chose not to run for a single on the next ball to maintain the strike for the last delivery. After that, he was only able to score two runs since he was unable to knock the last ball over the boundary.

Karthik, the finisher with the highest strike rate in the Indian Premier League 2022, was the one who was on the receiving end of the ball. Indians supporters were quick to criticize Pandya on social media for his behaviour during the last over of the game. Many people were hoping that the wicketkeeper would finish the game yesterday since he was going to be playing for India nearly three years later. In jokingly expressing his perspective on the matter, Pandya’s franchise coach, Ashish Nehra, commented on the player’s denial of a single in the last over.

IND vs SA Live Update: In the very last over, Hardik Pandya could have tried to get that single- Ashish Nehra.

“In the twelfth and last over, he should have gone for a single. It wasn’t me, Dinesh Karthik was on the other end,” Ashish Nehra mentioned on Cricbuzz.com.

Even though they scored 211 runs when batting first at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi on Thursday, India still ended up losing the opening match. Ishan Kishan had an outstanding fifty as he was opening the batting. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer also played useful innings despite their relatively little contributions, but it was stand-in captain Pant and his deputy Pandya who guided India to a huge total score.

David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen both scored undefeated fifty runs. South Africa advanced up the mountain with just three wickets falling along the way. In the second Twenty20 international match, which will take place on Sunday at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, India will be hoping to go back on the winning track as soon as possible.
