“He Is Going To Be Extremely Vital”- Shane Watson Names The Player Who Will Be Most Important For Australia In The ICC World T20 2022

ICC World T20 2022: Shane Watson, a former all-rounder for Australia, has said that Josh Hazlewood is the country’s best T20 bowler at the moment. Watson said that he, along with a large number of other people, believed that Hazlewood was capable of bowling in both tests and one-day matches. However, he went on to say that the player, who is now 31 years old, has made a significant leap forward in the Twenty20 format over the last couple of years.

Hazlewood made his Twenty20 international debut in 2013. However, in the years that followed, he did not participate in too many games in the Twenty20 format for the country. However, he had a successful season in the Indian Premier League in 2021 for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This was followed by an outstanding showing for Australia in the Twenty20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Shane Waston feels that Jost Hazlewood is the best T20I bowler for Australia at this moment

The right-handed fast bowler has quickly become an essential member of Australia’s Twenty20 side. In an interview with Isa Guha for The ICC Review, Watson offered the following analysis on the growth of the fast bowler in the 20-over format:

“The progression that Josh Hazlewood has made as a Twenty20 bowler has been incredible to see. Because he didn’t have too many defensive alternatives in Twenty20 cricket when he first started, I always assumed that he was only a Test and one-day bowler. However, he has evolved enormously over the last few years.”

Watson believes that the time that Hazlewood spent with CSK before the T20 World Cup last year was a significant factor in Hazlewood’s ability to compete well in the ICC event. He went on to explain:

“It was a fantastic chance for him to play for CSK (Chennai Super Kings). The team allowed him to get a lot of playing time and help him establish his footing in the previous season of the Indian Premier League before the T20 World Cup. There is no doubt that he is Australia’s most effective T20 fast bowler at the moment.”

After being released by CSK in preparation for the next season of the Indian Premier League (2022), Hazlewood was subsequently acquired by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) via the mega auction. He had another successful season in the Indian Premier League in 2022, finishing with 20 wickets with a strike rate of 13.95 in 12 matches played.

Watson is under the impression that Hazlewood will play a significant part in Australia’s defense of the Twenty20 World Cup later this year Down Under. His opinion was:

“Josh demonstrates that to be a very excellent T20 bowler, one does not necessarily need to be able to do anything unique. You have the potential to be productive as a bowler if you are skilled at truly executing your yorkers, your change of speed, and also if your stock ball is at the top of the stumps moving at a decent pace.”

Watson also said: “Over the last few years, he has shown that he has been one of the best in the world. He is going to be extremely vital for Australia’s defense of the T20 World Cup.”

The Australian cricket team is presently in Sri Lanka on a tour that consists of two Test matches, three Twenty20 Internationals, and five One-Day Internationals. The first Twenty20 International series will take place in Colombo on the 7th of June.
