Pakistan cricket team haven’t really made improvements in the longest format of the game for several years now. Although they have been playing well in some games, they failed to produce results in most of the games.
As far as the first cycle of the World Test Championship is concerned, they have played 12 games so far, winning four, losing five and playing out for a draw on three occasions and their journey hasn’t been that good.
They failed to qualify for the final in the first cycle as they finished fifth in the WTC 2019-21 points table. Meanwhile, Babar Azam and Co once again failed to qualify for the WTC final.
Their hopes were crushed after they lost the Test series against England at home. Babar Azam-led Pakistan national cricket team lost the Test opener by 74 runs and the second Test by 26 runs.
Pakistan are officially out of the WTC 2021-23
Pakistan also performed badly against Australia in the home Test series that was held in March earlier this year. Pakistan managed to play out for two draws before losing the third Test and the Test series against Australia.
On the other hand, Australia won the third Test by a massive margin of 115 runs and won the series by 1-0. After that, Pakistan went on to lose the first and second Test against England.
Pakistan’s series loss against England means that they are officially out of the World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle. They have totally messed up the plans in the second cycle just like how they failed to do well in the first cycle.
Currently, Babar Azam and Co are placed sixth on the WTC table. They have gained only 56 points so far where they won four games and lost as many as five games in this second cycle. On the other hand, they have played out for a draw twice.
ICC presented us WTC Final in a golden plate and we still somehow failed to qualify. Well Done PCB, Pakistan Cricket Team and Pitch Curators. https://t.co/ZghzGormwy

Even with the most favourable fixtures, this team has managed to embarass itself. This 2021-2023 WTC cycle disasterclass should never be forgotten
