Ayush Badoni has become the talk of the town after scoring a half-century for the Lucknow Super Giants on his IPL debut against the Gujarat Titans. After coming out to bat in a difficult situation, Badoni rebuilt the innings with Deepak Hooda and both batters went on to complete their respective fifties for LSG franchise.
Speaking to reporters in a virtual press conference after the match against Gujarat Titans, Badoni explained how the Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gautam Gambhir helped him reach the level where he is right now.
During the interaction, Ayush Badoni revealed that he went unsold in the previous IPL Auctions. He had been to trials of other teams but was not sure if he would be picked.
“Gautam Bhaiya helped me a lot. He asked me to play my natural game and play the ball, not the bowler. He told me that I would be getting a proper run in the team,” said Ayush.
Lucknow Super Giants signed Ayush Badoni for his base price of 20 lakh at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction
Lucknow Super Giants managed to grab Ayush Badoni’s services at his base price of 20 lakh at the mega auction. Commenting on his past experiences at the auction, Badoni added:
“I was going unsold in the previous auctions. I had attended camps of 2-3 teams but I did not know if I would be picked. Lucknow showed their faith in me.”
The Lucknow Super Giants will play their next match of the season against the Chennai Super Kings at the Brabourne Stadium tomorrow. Badoni will get an opportunity to play against MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja’s team. It will be interesting to see how the youngster performs in his second match for LSG.
The rising star will be keen to cement his place by performing consistently because star players like Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder are expected to join the LSG camp soon.
