Sam Curran, Cameron Green and Ben Stokes shatter record at IPL 2033 auction
The three big guns in Sam Curran, Cameron Green and Ben Stokes were expected to earn huge bucks ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. But not many expected them to shatter all the records in the event.
With them getting purchased at higher rates, they became the top three most expensive buys in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The second set of the capped all-rounders will be doing the rounds for a long time.
It all started with a bid for Sam Curran, who tempted almost every team and invited a bidding war between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians. He became the most expensive player in the history of the league when Punjab purchased him for INR 18.5 crores.
Young Australian all-rounder Cameron Green then also invited a bidding war but after failing to buy Curran, Mumbai Indians went all for him and purchased him for INR 17.5 crores. The focus then shifted to senior English all-rounder Ben Stokes, who was bought by Chennai Super Kings for INR 16.25 crores.
