Following the tour of South Africa, India are all set for their bilateral games against Kieron Pollard’s West Indies. Rohit Sharma, the newly-appointed T20I and ODI skipper of the Men in Blue, has also made his comeback in the squads after the injury layoff.
The 34-year-old missed the two-match Test series against New Zealand and the entire tour of the African nation after sustaining a hamstring injury. KL Rahul captained the national team in the ODIs against Temba Bavuma and Co. where India lost 0-3.
India’s home sojourn against the Caribbean unit is set to start on Sunday, February 6 with the three-match ODI series. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is set to host all three games in the 50-over format.
The ODIs will be followed by three T20Is to take place on Wednesday, February 16, Friday, February 18 and Sunday, February 20. All the matches will be held at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Rohit Sharma all set for ODI journey
As far as Rohit is concerned, he took charge as India’s T20I skipper from the home series against New Zealand that India won 0-3. The ODIs against the West Indies will be Rohit’s first as India’s full-time ODI skipper in the one-day format.
In the meantime, before the start of India’s home series, Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the white-ball games, posted a promo with Sharma in it. The Nagpur-born Rohit was over the moon, and he thanked them for the wonderful gesture.
Rohit took to Twitter and wrote, “Humbled by the lovely rap @StarSportsIndia Looking forward to be back on the field and take inspiration from the fans’ continued support as India takes on West Indies #BelieveinBlue #IndvsWI.”

Rohit has impressive numbers while playing against the West Indies, especially in the shorter format. He is the leading run-scorer in India vs West Indies T20Is, having played 15 matches in which he has scored 519 runs at an average of 43.25 with one century and four half-centuries.
Rohit has also been a brute for Team India in the ODI format, having notched as many as three double centuries against Sri Lanka and Australia.
