The fans broke out in joy as Virat Kohli stepped up as the skipper of the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the second time and this time in another day game. He is leading the side for their Green Game against the Rajasthan Royals, an old foe of theirs.
Heading into the game, RCB confirmed that they had one change for the game wherein David Willey was incorporated into the side in place of Wayne Parnell after the South African ace quick had a few struggles into the game.
As the captain of the side, Virat Kohli had loads to say particularly after winning the preceding game. There were a few reasons that were to be given as Faf du Plessis was once again not wearing the captain’s armband.
Talking on the reason of his captaincy, Virat Kohli said, “It was pretty easy to choose, we’d have batted first. This wicket looks dry and it will get drier and might break up first. I didn’t say that to Sanju, but I’m very happy to bat first. We both get to do what we wanted.”
Here is what Virat Kohli had to say about the changes
He further added about the captaincy change, adding, “They informed me last time saying I might have to captain a couple of games, nothing I’m not used to doing. So I’m happy to step in, ready to continue from whatever Faf has been doing.”
He eventually concluded by saying how the team has reacted to the changes, adding, “The team has responded well, we are playing with a lot of energy and that showed in the last game. One change for us, Wayne Parnell is out and he will be replaced by David Willey. Faf continues to play as an impact sub.”
RCB will be hoping to replicate their momentum against the Punjab Kings in their last game, however, with the Green Jersey and the 9 losses from the 12 games that they have played, it would be fascinating to witness, how things pan out.
