Indian Head Coach Rahul Dravid has showered praises on the comeback maker veteran wiki-batsman Dinesh Karthik after he performed amazingly against South Africa in the just-finished T20I series. Dinesh Karthik has made his place in the Indian squad on the basis of his relentless performance in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. He hasn’t been picked up for the first T20 match against SA but in further T20 games he has been given a chance and he completely banged on it.
In the last game of the series which was rain ruined, Dravid was asked a question about Dinesh Karthik in the post-match conversations. Then he gave an elaborative stance and stated the mind makeup behind the selection of veteran Karthik in the T20 squad of this series. Rahul said, “He was picked for a very specific skill and he was picked for that based on what he has been doing particularly well over the last two or three years,” Dravid said after rain washed away India’s chances of winning the five-game series against South Africa on Sunday.
Later he added, “It almost came together perfectly for us in that game at Rajkot when we needed that big performance in the last five overs to be able to make a par score. He and Hardik (Pandya) batted beautifully for us and both of them are our enforcers at the end and guys that can capitalize on the last five or six overs as well as anyone in the world”.
“It was really nice to see Karthik come off and do what he has been picked to do and it certainly opens up a lot more options for us going forward. Innings like that mean he is certainly knocking very hard”, he concluded.
