“Ajinkya Rahane will make a comeback!” – Twitter reacts after BCCI is likely to remove Rahane, Ishant and Saha from the new annual central contract

In the latest development, it has been learnt the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to remove three players (1 batsman, 1 fast bowler and 1 wicketkeeper-batsman) from the annual central contract.

The three players are none other than Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha. Rahane and Saha were part of the Test reckoning recently until they were axed from the set-up owing to inconsistent performances.

Ishant Sharma has been doing pretty well but still, he was axed from the set-up. Currently, the trio have fallen out of favour with the Indian selection committee and there is not even a slim chance that they would play for Team India again in the longest format of the game.

BCCI is likely to remove Rahane, Ishant and Saha from the new annual central contract

While Rahane, Ishant and Saha are likely to lose central contracts with BCCI, the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill might get promoted by the Indian cricket body.

Suryakumar Yadav has played ODIs and T20Is for India and is yet to make a debut in Test cricket. The star batsman might receive a Test call-up in the near future.

On the other side of the coin, Shubman Gill has played 11 Tests for India wherein he scored 579 runs including four fifties to his name. Gill and Surya might get promoted by the richest cricket body when the list for the 2022-23 season is completed during the BCCI’s Apex Council meeting on December 21.

Suryakumar Yadav was in Group C earlier but he improved very well as a batsman in the last 1 year and might as well get a promotion to Group B from C, if not A. Currently, Surya holds the numero uno spot in the ICC T20I Rankings.

Shubman Gill can expect to get a promotion to Group B from C as well. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is likely to get a promotion to Group B from C.
