“is it a bird, is it a plane, no it is Ben Cutting” – Twitter erupts after Ben Cutting pulls off a scorcher to dismiss James Vince in BBL 2022/23

The ongoing edition of the Big Bash League had its moments during the passage of play. We have witnessed watching teams producing a spark in crucial junctures of the game.

Batters were able to dictate terms with ultra-aggressive approach, bowlers were able to take wickets when it mattered the most and fielders have been so sharp and decisive in terms of saving runs and taking catches.

During the 34th game of the Big Bash League between Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder at Sydney Showground Stadium, Sydney, Ben Cutting took a stellar catch near the boundary and stunned everyone.

Ben Cutting pulls off a scorcher to dismiss James Vince

The incident happened during the second ball of the third over when Brendan Doggett tried to pitch the ball slightly outside off. On the other hand, James Vince decided to step down the track in a bid to go for a maximum inside the powerplay overs.

However, his decision to go for a maximum backfired him in the first place as he directed the ball towards the third man. As it turned out, Ben Cutting who was patrolling at that fielding position put in a superhuman effort to take the catch in his safe pair of hands.

The right-handed batsman literally couldn’t believe what he had seen and he made his way back to the dressing room after scoring just 5 runs. Despite the fact that Sydney Sixers lost three wickets early on, they largely benefitted from the services of skipper Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk.

The duo added a match-winning 109-run partnership for the fourth wicket and steered the team towards the finishing line as Sydney Sixers won the game by seven wickets. Earlier, Sydney Thunder could muster 133 for the loss of eight wickets in their quota of 20 overs. Whiteman top-scored with 42 runs to his name.
