Mohammed Siraj is one of the best bowlers in Indian cricket right now. He has made a name for himself with his stellar performances for the Royal Challengers Bangalore over the last two years. Initially, he could not keep a check on the run flow. However, now Siraj is a match-winner for RCB.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore retained only one fast bowler ahead of IPL 2022 Auction. Mohammed Siraj was that bowler, showing how much the franchise trusts him. While Siraj has done well for RCB, he is yet to cement his place in the Indian cricket team.
The rising star has performed well for the Indian team whenever he has received an opportunity. He has won matches for India as well. Commenting on why Siraj has been unlucky in international cricket, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson told Hindustan Times:
“Look, I think he is really unlucky in terms of he’s in an era where India have a huge amount of depth in the seam-bowling ranks.”
Mike Hesson says Mohammed Siraj will get a chance to play for India regularly in the future
Further, Mike Hesson added that the Indian team’s selectors gave more chances to the players who were nearing the end of their careers right now. He felt it is a succession plan and added that Siraj would get chances in the future.
“The selectors are giving them more opportunities to finish before Siraj then takes over. So I think it’s just a natural succession plan,” Hesson continued.
He signed off by saying that Siraj will take over in time. It will be interesting to see if Mike Hesson’s prediction proves to be accurate. Siraj undoubtedly has a lot of talent and has improved a lot in the last two years. So the chances of Hesson’s prediction proving right are high.
